I know it's been awhile...I am just getting back into the groove of things now that Summer is wrapping up and the boys will be going back to school. We did some camping, traveling, and swimming this summer and I think Im ready for school to start again.

Sorry I've been MIA. We all caught the flu, I managed to crash the motherboard in my laptop so I was without a computer for 2 weeks, and Ive been Christmas shopping. Wow! It's been crazy to say the least! But I'm back and here is the video of the mini I made for the CCC's Mini Album Swap. I made this video right before my laptop took it's dump so I'm just now able to load it. I hope you like it. We often Skype with Grandma & Grandpa and my little one just adores his Grandfather! Ive noticed the last few times that I'm waiting for them to log in I will read my emails or just surf the net. Well, lately he knows when he's going to talk to Grandpa and he wants to wait patiently for him. He crys when I collapse the screen to do something else while waiting. I had to pull out the camera and document this. It's just too cute and I never want Grandpa to forget how much his baby wants to talk to him! Thanks for watching.

As some of you may know, I have been having some health issues and I have been at the doctors office quite a bit lately. I finally got some answers and I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. I wanted to make a journal so I could document everything. What I was feeling, what the doctors were saying, what medications I was on....and so forth. So I made this journal...it's not done yet so stay tuned for part 2.

MIA Update - I'm Home

Thank you to everyone who left a comment. Thank you for your kind words and your prayers! We returned yesturday at 6am after driving all night. My grandmother was happy to see us all. She broke her back while gardening and this is how they found the cancer. As far as the fracture in her back she will be taking medication for pain but will not be having surgery to repair it. The cancer is at a stage 4 and the 6-12 month guestimate has not changed. They are not able to operate due to her age and for fear of it spreading faster.

As hard as it was, I was able to see her and talk with her. My children also got to see her and kiss her. We pray that she's able to be with us longer then the timeframe doctors told us. For now, we keep her in our prayers and in our thoughts.

Why I will be MIA.....

I will be MIA for a week. We just found out some troubling news last night. My Grandmother has Pancreatic Cancer and was given 6 months to 1 year. She is 90 years old so surgery to remove it is not an option. Radiation is also not an option...due to her age, doctors are saying she would not survive either one. For now, they are sending her home and medicating her. She's starting to refuse to eat and they are concerned. We are taking a trip to see her and we will be back on Sunday. I will post an update when I return. If you are a religious person...I ask you keep her and my family in your prayers. She is a mother to 11 living children and many, many Grandchildren. Her loose will be a devastating one! But we know to expect it and are preparing mentally and emotionally for it. Thank you for reading and have a blessed day.

I went to a neighborhood garage sale last weekend and I found this wine rack. The first thing I thought of was "That would be perfect to hang my punches on." I bought it for 3 bucks and brought it home and sure enough the punches fit perfectly! I was so happy to have a place to store them. How do you store your punches??

I was recently asked about what I use to make Mini Albums. I thought I would share with you my inexpensive way of using cardboard. I mostly use Cereal Boxes. When my kids are finished with a box of cereal they know NOT to throw away the box! The box goes on Mommy's craft desk. I started this mini and took pictures after I cut the box down to a 6x6 and 2x6 pieces. I used a paper pack from Close To My Heart. It's called "Key to My Heart". Here is the pictures of the paper

Here are the pieces of cereal boxes after I covered them with designer paper and cardstock.(Front and Back)

Weekly Planner

I bought this Weekly Calendar about 3 weeks ago from Suzette, my local Close To My Heart Rep. I had a hard time finding the perfect cover title but with lots of advice from all my friends at Cafemom and my dear cousin Yvonnia I finally made a decision. I took a few pictures of the inside also. I stamped the months with Close To My Hearts "Playful Caps" alpha letters. This project was inspired by a blog named Altered State of Mind. I know this is late! Sorry....My boys painted these flowers for their Grama Esther, Grama Suzy, and Aunt Amber. They had a blast with the paint! (It's a good thing I made them paint these outside) :)

Did you get your free Grand Slam this morning??

This morning was a great reason to get up early and get some breakfast! Denny's was serving free Grand Slam's from 6am - 2pm today only. I got up and got my kids ready at 5am. We arrived at Denny's at 6am exactly and were seated by 6:35am. IT WAS CRAZY THERE!! The line was out the door when we arrived. The local channel 40 news station was there and here is the link to the video that was taken just before we arrived there.

Homemade Clip it Up

I'm sure most everyone has seen one of these but just in case someone missed out on this tutorial here it is......

My friend Lisa introduced me to this video. All you do is find an old lampshade from the thift store and remove all the paper or fabric covering it. You will be left with a frame. Take paperclips and thread them onto the frame and onto the packages. And there you have it! It's really easy! Another simple and inexpensive way to organize.

If you haven't hit up your local Big Lots, I suggest you go and see what they have. I found alot of American Crafts items for really cheap! I found these ribbon boxes for $2.00 each.
